5/11/2023 Update: The final version is now available here👈
Update: 4/11/2023
I was having a hard time with the color style and designs. Originally, I wanted to paint it with color pencils on my iPad, but it didn't work as planned. I took a pause and flipped through some artists I really like to see if any coloring ideas could click. When I came across Croter Hung's artwork, I started to see if I could try to keep my color palette simple as his. After several tries, I began to like how it looked and decided to push it further. I was glad I did it digitally, or I don't know how many papers I would have wasted again. (ಠ_''ಠ)
Here I was trying to mimic as if I color penciled it.
I liked these two designs so I wanted to extend this idea, and what I shared above are the final looks...(they still need a final-final touch though, lol)
During the making of this, I shared what I had searched with my partner, which was why octopus is not listed as a sustainable food. He suddenly came up with a little octopus story that I also thought was fun to share. Now I am debating if I should draw his story and include it in the zine. But that would push back the print day for this zine, and I really wanted to move to the next project. Maybe I should just leave his story for him to draw. 😆
Now I have only several pages left, and I think I'm on the schedule. Yay~

I am now back to working on the aquarium zine that I had left last month. I had pretty much completed the first part of the zine (click here) and was just waiting for the rest to be finished so I could ask for proofreading/editing services before sending it to print.
There are not many drawings left, but I am extremely bad at putting my thoughts together. Writing essays is never my strength 😅. I've been rewriting this part for weeks, which has affected the page design and the supporting images. That's why I have been so slow on updating lately.
I think the current version is pretty close to final, so I am going to share the page design along the way. The epilogue section will consist of a total of 5 pages, which will be fully colored digitally in the end too. Here's the line draft:
4/6/2023 Note on Epilogue 3-5:
I've been redrawing and redesigning this page, trying to find the right layout to showcase the legitimate certifications for sustainable seafood that I found during my research. I also wanted to include the list of fish they cover (I decided to drop the fish in the layout cuz I didn't know how to draw happy fish + fish hook + all cert that shows they are good to eat). However, I was having trouble getting the design to click. I tried different approaches, but nothing seemed to work. So I took breaks, did some house chores, and did more research. After pulling elements from each draft, I finally found a solution I'm happy with. Yay! ٩(◕‿◕)۶
