When I received the acceptance from C2E2, I was very happy because I've always wanted to table there at least once. I was also super anxious about everything, as I always feel at every show. However, attendees here surprised me with their generous support. I sold half of my original watercolor paintings and all the Aquarium zines I brought with me. Their kind actions were truly a great motivation for me to keep going. 🥺
My family lives in a Chicago suburb. I saved on trip costs by staying with them. They are not familiar with comic cons/anime, so it is hard for them to imagine how I can do this as a full-time job throughout these years. Thus, this time, I invited them to come to the show so they could at least know what's going on. I wouldn't say they entirely buy into this idea, but at least they know that when I say I am self-employed and very busy, I'm not goofing around.
At the end of this show, I am more confident with where I stand. It is another step closer to the life I want it to be, and I'll keep going! (๑✪ᆺ✪๑)
My next show is KuroNeko Con in Spokane, WA in mid-July. I don't have any other shows lined up after that, so I will use the time to build up my arts.
My goal is to create 2 more art zines and upload another 12 YouTube videos by the end of the year. Hopefully, I will be able to sell my wool felting figures or take commissions for them starting in 2025.
Here's a recap of the art I sold and the commissions I did at C2E2 2024:
